About

We are the HandsOn Science Partnership. We have a single purpose - to advance student achievement in science through hands-on curriculum and materials. Our membership is comprised of businesses whose primary mission is hands-on science teaching and learning and organizations which support this endeavor.

HOSP is working towards a future when

  • Our students are among the world's top achievers in science
  • All students are learning science in an interactive and effective environment
  • Stakeholders are making the connection between quality teaching and quality hands-on materials as a means for increasing student achievement
  • Science is an equal partner with reading and mathematics

Our Mission

  • Increase student achievement in science
  • Build awareness, appreciation and support for the tools, materials and curriculum that support student achievement in science via hands-on instruction
  • Influence policy and decision making at national, state, and local levels to include research-based, hands-on instructional materials and those tools that enhance and improve teaching and learning of science

Hands-on science for both student and teacher

An inquiry-based curriculum is ineffective if you are intimidated by teaching science. Fran Hartman, a 28-year educator at Cedar Wood Elementary in Bothell, WA, discovered Insights and found she could be the science teacher she always wanted to be. "With no formal science background I can now offer students an exciting hands-on science curriculum. With state testing reaching into our classrooms I know other teachers feel the same fear."
