- Integrated skills and relevant
approaches are the direction most research is pushing as effective ways of
teaching STEM
- Focus needs to be preK -20 to
really establish change. This is a major
undertaking.
- STEM needs to become more
appealing to minority populations: not the suburban student if can be used
as an economic stimulus and driver.
- There is not a singular formula
that will work for everyone – think globally, act locally is a good idea
to remember when it comes to system change.
- There are resources and
information available for districts/states/classrooms – but overhauling
the system is costly and requires a commitment beyond what we have had in
the past. Without assurances that any major overhaul will increase student
achievement – this is almost impossible to sell.
Children should be led to make their own investigations, and to draw upon their own inferences. They should be told as little as possible.
