Association of Science Materials Centers (ASMC)

ASMC represents science education reform efforts in school districts and a consortia of materials centers across the US; It is the only professional organization that supports the more than 200 science materials centers, and the hundreds of educators who use inquiry-based, hands-on materials through those centers and in classrooms.

To help resource centers meet the changing needs of educators and their leaders, the Association of Science Materials Centers can provide support and assistance in the following areas:

 

American Chemical Society (ACS)

ACS is the world’s largest scientific society. With support in multiple areas, HOSP works primarily with those in the education policy arena. As one of their top priorities, ACS seeks to Strengthen Science Education and the Scientific Workforce

“America needs scientific and engineering professionals. To equip today’s students with the skills to fill the technical jobs of tomorrow, we must improve science and mathematics education at the K-12, community college, undergraduate, and graduate levels. We also need to encourage talented people to enter science and engineering fields. Center for Collaborative Research and Education and DuPont Office of Education (OEE) 

DuPont is a science-based company.  We bring the benefits of science to the marketplace in ways that benefit people and generate value for our shareholders.  DuPont has long understood the rewards of investing in science education. Our work supports programs that train teachers who instill a love of science in our children, that sustain quality STEM education, that ensure a pool of skilled scientists and mathematicians who are potential DuPont employees, and ultimately educate scientifically literate consumers who recognize and appreciate the value of a DuPont branded product.

The DuPont Office of Education’s (OEE) vision is to aspire to building a viable, talented and inspired workforce and educated consumer by serving as a bridge between DuPont’s business platforms and the public.  The (OOE) achieves this vision through its work with educators, university faculty, the business community and local DuPont sites to prepare today's children for tomorrow's world. Teir is to ensure that the next generation of citizens has a working knowledge of the unique method of science and a reasoned understanding of science as a domain of human knowledge.

EDC – Center for Science Education

CSE supports science education improvement in school districts across the United States. CSE researches and evaluates programs and creates instructional materials for in-school and out-of-school science (pre-K–12). CSE designs professional and technical assistance programs, products, resources, and online courses for leadership and capacity development. In addition, CSE develops programs that help young people and adults learn about science-based occupations and career paths, and assist them in obtaining the required education and training to enter these fields. One of CSE’s primary priorities is to ensure that all students have a high-quality science education, one that is research-based and meets rigorous learning and teaching standards.

National Science Teacher’s Association (NSTA)

The National Science Teachers Association (NSTA), founded in 1944 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, is the largest organization in the world committed to promoting excellence and innovation in science teaching and learning for all. NSTA's current membership of 60,000 includes science teachers, science supervisors, administrators, scientists, business and industry representatives, and others involved in and committed to science education.  NSTA’s Mission “…to promote excellence and innovation in science teaching and learning for all.”

STEM Education Coalition

HOSP serves as one of the Board of Directors for this important STEM advocacy group in Washington DC.  The STEM Education Coalition works to support STEM programs for teachers and students at the U. S. Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, and other agencies that offer STEM related programs.

The STEM Education Coalition is composed of advocates from over 600 diverse groups representing all sectors of the technological workforce – from knowledge workers, to educators, to scientists, engineers, and technicians. The participating organizations of the STEM Education Coalition are dedicated to ensuring quality STEM education at all levels.
